LUX AETERNA

for soprano and string quartet

The Lux Aeterna is a part of the Roman Catholic Requiem Mass in Latin. I set this thinking it should run at a pretty good clip, but when actual musicians performed it, they went and took it really slow. So a typical performance lasts about ten minutes.

The recording (of an earlier version of the now revised piece) was made at St. John's Lutheran in Montreal. The soprano is the scintillating Kimberley Lynch. Listen to this recording and don't actually look at it -- the video is just a little out of sync and it's maddening.
