One of the first things I tried when I started writing music in earnest was a piece for wind quintet. I used to play wind quintets, and they're really fun to play, and it's a well-known, solid set of voices that work well together. Well it took me a bit over five years, but I've a completed piece, after a fashion. Maybe I'll tinker a bit more with it, but for now this is good enough, and it plays from a beginning to an end. It requires strong performers, but it's not super difficult. A typical performance should run about ten minutes or so.
It's called Fantaisie pour quintette à vent and it's to be found in the Secular and Instrumental Music page.
